MILO® and Ministry of Youth & Sports Celebrate Malaysia’s Sporting Spirit Ahead of SEA Games 2027

The collaboration highlights the shared values of determination, resilience, teamwork and sporting excellence, while looking ahead to an important moment for Malaysian sports as the country prepares to host the SEA Games 2027.
For generations, MILO® has been closely involved in Malaysia’s sporting journey, encouraging young Malaysians to lead active lifestyles and discover their potential through sports.
Working alongside long-standing partners including the Ministry of Education (MOE), Ministry of Youth & Sports and Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM), MILO® continues to support grassroots sporting development through initiatives such as the MILO® Champions Clinic and Majlis Sukan Sekolah Malaysia (MSSM).
More Than 100,000 Cups of MILO® for Malaysians
This Merdeka and Malaysia Day season, MILO® is bringing its celebration directly to communities by serving more than 100,000 complimentary cups of MILO® throughout the festivities.
The initiative aims to energise Malaysians from all walks of life while celebrating the values that continue to shape the nation’s sporting spirit.
For MILO®, the message is simple — every champion has to start somewhere. Whether it is taking part in a school competition, stepping onto a playing field for the first time or simply choosing to live a more active lifestyle, every journey begins with that first step.
It is also a celebration of the familiar Malaysian spirit of “Malaysia Boleh” — the belief that determination and unity can take us further.
Sporting Heroes Take Centre Stage at National Day Parade
One highlight of the collaboration took place at the National Day Parade in Putrajaya on 31 August, where MILO® worked with the Ministry of Youth & Sports to unveil a specially curated float celebrating Malaysia’s sporting heroes.
The float features Malaysian athletes and Commonwealth Games medalists who will represent the country at the SEA Games 2027.
Designed around Malaysia’s sporting identity, the float incorporates elements inspired by the SEA Games, the Jalur Gemilang, iconic Malaysian landmarks and tiger-stripe motifs representing the spirit of Harimau Malaya.
A replica of the Bukit Jalil National Stadium also forms part of the design, reflecting Malaysia’s preparations to host the 34th SEA Games.
Following behind the float were the familiar MILO® vans, reinforcing the brand’s long-standing connection with sports development in Malaysia.
Celebrating the People Behind the Medals
The float also gave Malaysians an opportunity to see some of the athletes who will be carrying the nation’s hopes on the regional sporting stage.
Among the athletes featured were national weightlifters Mohamad Aniq Kasdan and Muhammad Hafizuddin Roslin, national lawn bowler Aleena Ahmad Nawawi, national para long jumper Eljoe Gotuoh, and national wheelchair basketball athlete Freday Tan Yei Bing.
Their journeys represent different sporting disciplines and experiences, but they share a common thread — the dedication and perseverance required to compete at the highest level.
For MILO®, bringing these athletes closer to the public is also about showing Malaysians that sporting success is not defined by medals alone. The determination to keep going, work as a team and overcome challenges can inspire the next generation to take their own first steps.
Building Support for Team Malaysia
Ng Su Yen, Business Executive Officer, MILO®, said Merdeka provides an opportunity for Malaysians to come together and recognise how sport can connect people across generations, cultures and backgrounds.
With Malaysia set to host the SEA Games in 2027, the collaboration also aims to encourage Malaysians to get behind Team Malaysia and support the athletes who will compete on home soil.
For the athletes themselves, having the nation behind them can provide an important source of motivation.
Mohamad Aniq Kasdan described being part of the National Day Parade as a special experience, while highlighting the importance of Malaysians coming together to support the national athletes ahead of the 2027 SEA Games.
National lawn bowler Aleena Ahmad Nawawi also shared the significance of celebrating Merdeka through sports, pointing to unity as one of Malaysia’s greatest strengths.
Looking Towards SEA Games 2027
With Malaysia preparing to welcome athletes from across Southeast Asia for the 2027 SEA Games, the partnership between MILO® and the Ministry of Youth & Sports arrives at an important time.
Beyond celebrating Malaysia’s sporting achievements today, the initiative looks towards the next generation of athletes who are still discovering their passion for sports.
From grassroots programmes and school-level competitions to national representation, the journey of a Malaysian athlete can begin with something as simple as taking that first step.
