Samsung Unveils Glasses-Free 3D “Spatial Signage” at ISE 2026
April 8, 2026At Integrated Systems Europe 2026, Samsung Electronics captured attention with a futuristic display that makes objects appear to float in midair — no 3D glasses required. Just 52mm thin, the innovation, known as Spatial Signage, delivers a striking 360-degree visual effect that feels immersive and lifelike.
Spatial Signage has already gained strong industry recognition, picking up awards across major global tech events including IFA, CES and ISE. Developed through collaboration between Samsung’s Visual Display Business, Samsung Research and Corporate Design Office, the display represents a new step forward in how 3D visuals are experienced in real-world environments.
At its core, the technology uses a 3D plate system that directs different images to each eye, allowing the brain to perceive depth naturally. By combining high-resolution 2D visuals for the main subject with a layered 3D background, the display achieves both clarity and immersive depth without the limitations typically seen in earlier glasses-free 3D solutions.
Bringing this concept to life at an ultra-large 85-inch scale came with significant engineering challenges. The team had to overcome issues such as image distortion, narrow viewing angles and even physical constraints like lens sagging and moiré patterns. Through precision engineering and repeated testing, Samsung developed new methods to ensure accurate alignment and consistent image quality across the entire display.
Despite its slim 3–4mm optical layer, Spatial Signage can create a perceived depth of up to 500mm, giving visuals a box-like dimension that appears to extend beyond the screen. This balance between thin form factor and deep visual immersion highlights the level of refinement achieved through cross-team collaboration.
Design also played a critical role in shaping the final experience. Every visual element, from lighting and shadows to perspective and gradients, was carefully engineered to enhance depth perception. Designers worked at a microscopic level, segmenting images into ultra-fine layers to ensure that all elements align perfectly when viewed together, resulting in a seamless and natural 3D effect.
Beyond the technology itself, Spatial Signage opens up new possibilities for commercial use. Samsung plans to expand the lineup beyond the current 85-inch model with additional sizes, making it more accessible across retail, education and entertainment environments. Businesses can also leverage Samsung’s VXT platform and AI Studio tools to create optimized 3D-ready content from a single image, simplifying the process of producing immersive visuals.
From retail displays and fitness environments to theme parks and educational spaces, Spatial Signage is designed to transform how content is presented and experienced. More than just a visual upgrade, it reflects a shift towards creating more engaging, interactive and memorable moments in everyday spaces.
