A New Mobility Solution to Ease Congestion and Encourage Public Transport Use in Kuala Lumpur

Kuala Lumpur, MalaysiaNADI WILLER SDN. BHD. (Headquarters: Malaysia, CEO: Ibrahim Aiman Bin Mohd Nadzmi, hereafter NADI WILLER), a provider of Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS) in Malaysia, is committed to building a society where people can travel seamlessly without the need to own a private car. By introducing Japanese-quality MaaS, NADI WILLER supplements existing rail and bus networks with its mobi DRT (Demand Responsive Transit) service, enabling smoother public transport journeys, reducing car dependency, and helping to ease traffic congestion.

Addressing Malaysia’s Transport Challenges

Kuala Lumpur continues to face heavy traffic congestion, largely due to the lack of reliable first- and last-mile connections. As a result, many residents still depend on private cars, family pick-ups, or e-hailing services. Mid-distance public transport usage also remains limited, while recent bus accidents have heightened public concern about safety.

To tackle these issues, NADI WILLER is advancing a MaaS platform that integrates mass transit such as buses and rail with on-demand solutions like mobi DRT. This creates a seamless, flexible mobility experience tailored to diverse urban travel needs.

Proven Track Record

Since its launch, NADI WILLER has operated mobi DRT through its dedicated mobile app. As of August 2025, the service has expanded to 26 areas, carrying more than 400,000 passengers and registering over 100,000 members.

A recent user survey revealed that 88% of riders use mobi DRT as part of their journey to public transport. Before mobi DRT, 47.6% relied on family pick-ups and 24.2% on private cars. These findings highlight mobi DRT’s role in shifting mobility behavior away from private car use and towards greater public transport adoption.

New Initiatives

To further accelerate this mobility shift, NADI WILLER has introduced three major initiatives:

  1. Journey Planner with Multimodal Search
The mobi app now integrates GTFS and GTFS-RT public transport data for Kuala Lumpur and Selangor, allowing users to combine buses, rail, and mobi DRT in a single journey search. This feature enables seamless, end-to-end trip planning from stations to destinations.
  2. Launch of mobi CONNECT
On September 1, 2025, NADI WILLER launched mobi CONNECT, a new mid-distance on-demand service connecting one CBD to another. The first route links Mont Kiara to LaLaport Bukit Bintang City Centre, a hub for LRT, monorail, and airport shuttles. Users can pre-book rides within designated routes and time slots, while AI optimizes routes and confirms pick-up times. By encouraging ride-sharing, this service reduces reliance on private cars and lowers the number of vehicles on the road.
  3. Japanese-Quality Safety Management and Driver Training
In response to rising public concerns over transport safety, NADI WILLER has implemented a driver training and safety management program modeled after Japanese best practices. The program includes classroom lessons, practical driving sessions, and ongoing follow-ups. Safety is further ensured through daily roll calls, vehicle inspections, and the WILLER Fleet system, ensuring drivers deliver safe, reliable, and customer-friendly services.

Looking Ahead

Through these initiatives, NADI WILLER aims to strengthen public transport accessibility and promote sustainable mobility in Malaysia. By evolving its MaaS platform with Japanese-quality standards, the company continues to create new value for cities and contribute to building a more sustainable society where everyone can move freely.
