Galaxy foldables have taken the smartphone market by storm, redefining traditional form factors and gaining widespread popularity. In focus are the latest additions, the Galaxy Z Flip5 and Z Fold5, which have particularly captivated consumers in South Korea and Europe. In the second part of a two-part series, Samsung Newsroom delves into the cutting-edge technologies powering these devices, demystifying related terminologies for a broader audience.

Dynamic AMOLED 2X: Dynamic AMOLED 2X represents Samsung’s pinnacle in mobile display technology, an evolution of the original Dynamic AMOLED introduced in 2019. Tailored for high-speed gaming and multitasking, it boasts a 100% accurate DCI-P3 color gamut for optimized colors and contrast. The display ensures a seamless user experience with smoother scrolling, excellent response times, and HDR10+ certification. Noteworthy is the upgraded adaptive refresh rate, leaping from 60Hz to 120Hz, elevating display performance significantly.

Adaptive Refresh Rate: This technology dynamically adjusts the screen’s refresh rate based on the displayed content, providing a smoother user experience and optimizing battery life.

Auto Framing: Auto Framing is a camera feature that intelligently adjusts the device’s camera angle based on the number of people in the picture. The view narrows for a single person and widens when two or more people are detected. The screen follows the movement of the photographer, allowing for tracking at a distance of approximately two-and-a-half to three meters, matching a normal walking pace. This feature simplifies capturing dynamic scenes and ensures everyone in a group fits within the frame, especially when utilizing the Flex Mode.

Nightography: Introduced with the Galaxy S22, Nightography enhances color vibrancy and picture quality in low-light environments. This feature captures a series of images and employs multi-frame processing (MFP) technology to eliminate noise and blurry shots. Utilizing an AI image signal processing (ISP) algorithm, Nightography applies an HDR effect, resulting in a single clear photo. The Super Night Solution allows users to capture bright and crisp videos without visual noise.

Nit: Derived from the Greek word “nitere,” meaning “to shine,” a nit is a unit of luminance measuring the light emitted from a display. Specifically, one nit is the brightness of one candle in an area of one square meter. Understanding nits is crucial for ensuring smartphone displays remain visible in varying lighting conditions, especially when used outdoors.

Fast Wireless Charging 2.0: Initially introduced at Galaxy Unpacked 2015 with the Galaxy Note5, Fast Wireless Charging 2.0 is Samsung’s wireless charging technology standard. Operating on a magnetic field-induced fast-charging mechanism, it has evolved to support wireless charging options of 10W, 12W, and 15W, providing faster and more efficient wireless charging capabilities.
