Malaysians looking for wellness products now have another destination to explore as R Pharmacy officially opens its 28th outlet at Sunway Velocity Mall.

The new outlet marks another step in the Malaysian pharmacy and wellness retailer’s nationwide expansion, with the company aiming to reach 50 stores by 2029.

Beyond growing its physical presence, R Pharmacy is positioning itself as a platform for Malaysian homegrown wellness brands, giving locally developed products greater exposure and making them more accessible to consumers.

Supporting Malaysia’s Growing Wellness Industry

R Pharmacy’s expansion comes as Malaysia continues to strengthen its domestic pharmaceutical and healthcare ecosystem.

The Government’s National Medicines Policy places emphasis on developing the country’s pharmaceutical sector, while efforts are also underway to strengthen domestic manufacturing capabilities and improve the security of local pharmaceutical supply.

The industry recorded encouraging investment figures in 2025. According to the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), Malaysia recorded RM724.8 million in approved pharmaceutical investments across 15 projects, with 96.6% of the total coming from domestic investors.

These projects are expected to create 872 employment opportunities, reflecting continued interest in Malaysia’s pharmaceutical capabilities.

For R Pharmacy, the growing local industry presents an opportunity to connect Malaysian wellness brands with consumers through its retail network.

Giving Homegrown Brands a Bigger Platform

According to R Pharmacy CEO Adrian Toh, the company was founded on the belief that Malaysian brands can create wellness solutions that are innovative, relevant and capable of standing alongside international products.

With its growing network of stores, R Pharmacy hopes to give these brands greater visibility while helping consumers discover more locally developed wellness products.

The company is also working with Tourism Malaysia, particularly as Malaysia enters the Visit Malaysia 2026–2027 period.

The partnership aims to showcase Malaysian-made wellness products not only to local consumers but also to international visitors looking to discover products made in Malaysia.

Tourism Malaysia Deputy Director General (Promotion II), Samuel Lee, said initiatives that highlight the quality, innovation and diversity of Malaysian-made products can contribute to strengthening Malaysia’s appeal as a destination.

Tigrox Tiger Milk King Expands Across R Pharmacy

The opening of the Sunway Velocity Mall outlet also highlights R Pharmacy’s retail partnership with Malaysian health brand Tigrox.

Through the partnership, Wellous’ Tigrox Tiger Milk King is now available across R Pharmacy stores nationwide.

The collaboration gives the homegrown product a wider retail presence while providing consumers with easier access to the brand.

It also supports the broader push to encourage Malaysians to discover and support locally developed products.

The initiative aligns with the spirit of the Government’s Jom Beli Lokal 2025 campaign, which focused on increasing sales of local products, supporting small businesses and strengthening the domestic economy.

Merdeka Comes With Shopping Promotions

The new outlet opening also coincides with R Pharmacy’s Merdeka & Malaysia Days Sales Campaign, running from 13 August to 27 September 2026.

Adding a little fun to the shopping experience, the campaign features colour-themed promotions inspired by the Malaysian flag.

Customers who dress in designated Malaysian flag colours, whether through their clothing or accessories, can enjoy discounts on their total purchase during the respective promotional periods.

It is a simple way for shoppers to join in the Merdeka and Malaysia Day celebrations while picking up their everyday wellness needs.

From Pharmacy Retailer to Wellness Platform

With 28 outlets now operating nationwide and a target of 50 stores by 2029, R Pharmacy is looking to move beyond the conventional pharmacy retail model.

The company’s longer-term ambition is to create a stronger connection between consumers and Malaysia’s growing ecosystem of homegrown wellness brands.

For Malaysian consumers, this could mean greater access to locally developed products, while brands gain another platform to reach a wider audience.

As Visit Malaysia 2026–2027 brings more international attention to the country, R Pharmacy is also looking to play a role in showcasing Malaysian wellness products to visitors.

The official grand opening at Sunway Velocity Mall was attended by Adrian Toh, CEO of R Pharmacy; Phang Sau Lian, CEO of Sunway Mall; and Samuel Lee, Deputy Director General (Promotion II), Tourism Malaysia.

With its latest outlet now open, R Pharmacy’s journey towards 50 stores continues — while its bigger goal remains focused on putting Malaysian homegrown wellness brands in front of more people, both locally and internationally.
