Taobao Malaysia Launches 618 Mid-Year Sale with New Bahasa Malaysia Interface

Alongside this major event, the platform has also launched a brand-new Bahasa Malaysia interface, making online shopping more accessible for users across the country. Malaysians can now browse and shop in Bahasa Melayu, English, or Chinese, helping more people enjoy a smoother and more personalised experience.

To further enhance the platform, Taobao has introduced several new features:
- Image Search: Shoppers can now take or upload a photo to find similar products using AI-powered image recognition.
- Coins Cashback: A daily check-in and shopping reward system where users can earn coins, enjoy cashback, and get free shipping from selected sellers.
- Exclusive New User Perk: First-time users can access deals starting from just RMB 1 (approximately RM0.62).
These updates and the Bahasa Malaysia interface show Taobao’s continued efforts to offer a localised and user-friendly shopping experience.

Jess Lew, Country Head of Taobao Malaysia, shared that the company is focused on creating a safer, more localised platform that meets the needs of Malaysian users. Taobao aims to deliver a more rewarding and reliable online shopping experience with improved language support, better logistics, and enhanced security.
Supporting Local Entrepreneurs
Beyond shopping, Taobao is also committed to supporting Malaysian entrepreneurs. In 2020 and 2022, it launched the LiveNOW livestream KOL training programme in collaboration with state governments and training institutions. This initiative helped train over 500 local livestreamers and digital entrepreneurs, especially from low-income groups, by providing new opportunities in the digital economy.
According to Jess Lew, Taobao is dedicated to strengthening Malaysia’s e-commerce ecosystem. The platform continues to expand its offerings, especially in fashion and home furniture categories, with affordable prices and air shipping as fast as five working days.
