Exploring the distinctions or modifications from its predecessor may not be apparent by merely holding onto it; hence, let’s systematically examine these changes. Upon acquiring the OPPO Find N3 Flip, the unboxing experience reveals a distinctive set of features. As you open the package, the Find N3 Flip greets you, accompanied by a collection of phone manuals. 

Despite its higher market price, the convenience is noteworthy as there’s no need to hunt for additional accessories. The package includes a protective cover, a 44W charging brick, and a cable. This comprehensive inclusion ensures that users can seamlessly embark on their smartphone experience without the hassle of acquiring supplementary components.

The weight

Compared to its predecessor, the prior model carries a weight of 191g, while the current iteration exhibits a slightly increased weight. Personally, I find the added weight to be advantageous, instilling a sense of confidence when holding the device, particularly during activities such as one-handed video recording. Contrary to the assumption that increased weight may be undesirable, I’ve experienced a positive outcome. 

When I sling it over my body with additional accessories, the weight does not translate into a burdensome feeling. Instead, it contributes to a reassuring sense of confidence as I walk with the device.

The body 

The fusion of precision-curved glass with sophisticated and premium design elements results in an elegant aesthetic, providing a sleek appearance and a seamless, borderless feel when held.

Users will be greeted by the striking color contrast of the brilliant cover screen, creating an immediate visual impact. Adjacent to this, the presence of the Cosmo ring adds a distinctive and attention-grabbing element to the phone’s aesthetics. 

For those curious about the significance of this ring, it serves as the signature of the bokeh atmosphere inspired by Hasselblad. Capturing a photo with the watermark reveals Hasselblad’s signature, adding a unique touch to the photographic experience.

While maintaining continuity with the previous generation in terms of the cover screen, main display, storage, and battery, the OPPO Find N3 Flip distinguishes itself as the first phone equipped with a flagship triple camera. Noteworthy in its design, an Alert Slide facilitates effortless transitions between silent, vibrate, and ring modes, eliminating the need to open, unlock, or even glance at the Find N3 Flip. 

The tactile feedback accompanying each slide ensures a clear indication of the active mode: no vibration for Silent mode, a pulsating sensation for Vibrate mode, and a prolonged vibration for Ring mode.

The colour

Notably, it reintroduces interactive cover screen pets, upgrading them from 2D to 3D. Users can choose from a variety of animated pets, including a Bird, Cat, Dog, Hamster, Koala, Panda, Rabbit, and Tiger.

These lively companions dynamically respond to your activities, adding a playful and charming element to the cover screen. Their interactive nature, such as responding to taps on the screen, keeps users engaged.

The Find N3 Flip also incorporates shortcuts to popular Android apps, thanks to collaboration with Google and other partners. Native Google Phone apps, Maps, Keep, Gmail, and various social media apps optimized for short-form video and posting services are readily accessible on the cover screen.

Main Screen 

Upon unfolding the phone, a stunning 6.8-inch 120Hz AMOLED screen is revealed, offering a captivating full-screen viewing experience that keeps users engrossed. The screen boasts uninterrupted lines, rendering the crease line virtually invisible from any angle during browsing. When folding the phone, the soft shutting sound, reminiscent of a stopper at the edge, instills a sense of confidence in the device’s build quality. 

Notably, the current model shares similarities with the Find N2 Flip, maintaining consistency in aspects such as nits brightness and resolution, ensuring a seamless transition for users familiar with the previous iteration.

Performance/ Software 

The Find N3 Flip is powered by the flagship MediaTek Dimensity 9200 chipset, offering commendable performance across various applications. Its capabilities extend beyond app usage, excelling in tasks like photo editing and smoothly handling 4K video playback without any noticeable lag. 

However, it’s essential to recognize that the flip smartphone is not geared towards heavy-duty performance demands. Instead, its design and focus prioritize the camera functionality, ensuring seamless sharing of daily activities without any lags. The device provides sufficient performance for multitasking, striking a balance that aligns with its primary emphasis on delivering a superior camera experience.

Hinge 

The improvement in the Flexion Hinge is evident, reintroducing the perfectly parallel gapless design initially introduced in the Find N2 Flip. This design features a zero-gap hinge, ensuring a seamless and visually appealing continuity. The Find N3 Flip is engineered for a lifetime of use, undergoing rigorous testing to ensure durability and longevity. 

With IPX4 water resistance and new dual-friction plates, the device boasts a smoother glide throughout its range of motion. Furthermore, its enhanced load-bearing strength, achieved through a new aircraft-grade stainless steel core, reflects a 25% improvement in durability.

Camera 

Here is where a revolutionary shift occurs—the OPPO Find N3 Flip stands out as the inaugural flip phone equipped with three cameras, including a Telephoto lens. The Telephoto lens, often underappreciated, plays a crucial role in capturing distant subjects and bringing them into closer view. This feature proves especially beneficial for photographing food, buildings, or pets, providing a sharper image.

The Find N3 Flip boasts a 32MP Telephoto lens, excelling in well-lit environments during the day. However, its performance diminishes in low-light or nighttime conditions, requiring optimal lighting for optimal results. As the first-of-its-kind telephoto smartphone, there is acknowledgment of the potential for improvement. 

Notably, when zooming extensively, there is a discernible fuzziness and a reduction in sharpness, indicating that there is room for enhancement in achieving optimal clarity and precision.

In the realm of rear cameras equipped with ProXDR, the OPPO Find N3 Flip stands out with a 50MP main camera and a 48MP Ultra-wide lens. Evaluating the photography outcomes during both day and night, the day captures exhibit exceptional clarity and minimal noise, showcasing a notable improvement in the camera lens compared to its predecessor. The noise levels have significantly reduced, contributing to enhanced image clarity.

As the day transitions into night, the night aperture performs reasonably well, although there is room for improvement in low-light conditions, particularly where certain elements of the picture exhibit fuzziness. Despite this, it’s noteworthy that OPPO has made advancements in camera lens performance during nighttime photography.

The ProXDR feature, exclusive to the rear camera, plays a pivotal role in refining the visual experience. It addresses common issues associated with HDR modes in other smartphones, such as unnatural tones, halos around subjects, and flat images. ProXDR, however, revolutionizes this by offering up to eight times more dynamic range than non-ProXDR displays. 

This technology ensures that when viewing photos in the Find N3 Flip’s gallery, the display leverages the extra information captured by the OCP engine, resulting in vibrant and dynamic images.

It’s important to note that the ProXDR effect only persists within the Find N3 Flip’s gallery, as clicking on the edit function reverts the picture to the HDR standard. This innovative feature significantly enhances the visual richness of photos, making them more enjoyable across various scenarios.

Shifting the focus to the front camera, which boasts 32MP and 4K recording capabilities, the sharpness level may not be optimal unless captured under strong lighting conditions. However, the portrait mode demonstrates improved sharpness, reinforcing OPPO’s reputation as a Portrait expert. This feature brings forth enhanced clarity, leaving no room for dispute on its effectiveness.

Battery 

The OPPO Find N3 Flip is equipped with a robust 4300mAh battery, ensuring extended usage periods. Paired with the 44W SUPERVOOC fast charger brick, this device facilitates rapid charging capabilities, enabling a swift charge from 20 percent to 100 percent in under 45 minutes. This efficient charging feature ensures that the phone is swiftly ready to deliver all-day productivity.

Adding to its longevity, the Find N3 Flip incorporates engaging pet interaction animations on the display. This feature activates as soon as the phone is lifted, providing a lively and entertaining element to daily activities. With this combination of pet interactions and full-day usage, the phone exhibits an impressive battery life, capable of lasting more than a day before requiring the next charge. This extended battery performance enhances the overall user experience, allowing for sustained productivity and engagement without the constant need for recharging.

Should you buy this phone? 

Before delving into the details, it’s worth acknowledging that the OPPO Find N3 Flip comes with a relatively high price tag. While it’s important to note that this device may have certain drawbacks that warrant attention and improvement, given the numerous models produced, it offers an enticing deal overall. 

The Flip smartphone manages to captivate users from the outset, particularly with its impressive screen that ensures a disturbance-free browsing experience, free from unsightly lines. The device excels in multitasking across various applications, showcasing a commendable level of smoothness. Despite potential setbacks, the OPPO Find N3 Flip proves to be a compelling choice, drawing attention with its standout features and user-friendly interface.
