Samsung Electronics has announced an exciting new update for select Galaxy A series smartphones: users will soon be able to launch Gemini, Google’s AI-powered assistant, by simply pressing and holding the side button—a feature previously available only on flagship Galaxy S models.

This update reflects Samsung’s commitment to making the latest AI experiences accessible to more people, continuing its mission to bring Awesome Intelligence to the Galaxy A series.

Smarter Help, Just a Press Away

With the new side button feature, Galaxy A users can quickly activate Gemini to handle everyday tasks using voice commands—whether it’s:

  • Checking your schedule
  • Finding nearby restaurants
  • Getting birthday gift ideas
  • Or even performing cross-app tasks like finding a restaurant on Google Maps and sharing the location in Messages—all in one step

Supported Devices

The side button activation for Gemini will be available on these Galaxy A models:

  • Galaxy A56 5G
  • Galaxy A36 5G
  • Galaxy A26 5G
  • And more to come

This update gives Galaxy A users easier access to AI-powered support—making daily tasks faster, more intuitive, and hands-free.

“We’re excited that Galaxy A series users will now be able to activate Gemini faster and more naturally through a simple gesture that brings intelligent support into the flow of daily tasks,” said Jay Kim, Executive Vice President at Samsung Electronics.

Global Rollout Starts in May

The software update will begin rolling out globally in early May for select Galaxy A models. With this update, Samsung continues to enhance its mid-range devices with premium, smart features that make life easier—no typing required.
