BESPOKE AI Global Launch latest Home Appliances
April 7, 2024Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. recently unveiled its latest lineup of home appliances during a global launch event called ‘Welcome to ‘BESPOKE AI’. The event took place in three locations – Seoul, Paris, and New York City. At this event, Samsung highlighted how connectivity among these appliances can enhance the overall home experience and how artificial intelligence (AI) improves appliance performance.
Jong-Hee (JH) Han, Vice Chairman, CEO, and Head of the Device eXperience (DX) Division at Samsung Electronics, initiated the event in Seoul. He emphasized that Samsung home appliances not only excel in their usual functions but also offer more with the integration of AI. The addition of screens to appliances like refrigerators, induction ranges, and laundry machines turns them into entertainment platforms and convenient control hubs for other connected Samsung appliances through SmartThings.
“Since introducing BESPOKE in 2019, Samsung Electronics has shown how appliances can be tailored to suit each user’s home and lifestyle,” said JH Han. “Now, we share our vision for AI in appliances with enhanced connectivity and capabilities that will elevate the consumer experience.”
Enhanced Connectivity with Bespoke AI Appliances
Samsung’s latest Bespoke AI appliances are equipped with built-in Wi-Fi, internal cameras, AI chips, and compatibility with the SmartThings application. They offer improved features and connectivity to create a truly smart home. The new AI Home, a connected 7-inch LCD added to multiple products, provides intuitive access and control over the connected ecosystem.
The AI Home includes a 3D Map View feature, allowing users to see a full 3D view of their house and easily locate and control connected appliances. For instance, users can adjust the air conditioner in other rooms while cooking in the kitchen or start the robot vacuum cleaner while doing laundry, all from the AI Home interface. Additionally, the AI Home serves as a communication hub, allowing users to receive calls on their phones through the display while continuing their tasks.
Samsung also introduced Mobile Smart Connect, a feature that sends alerts to the user’s phone when it is near registered appliances. This feature provides quick control options directly from the phone, eliminating the need for physical remote controls.
At the event, Samsung highlighted ‘Calm Onboarding,’ a feature that simplifies product registration by automatically registering purchased products under a Samsung account onto the SmartThings app.
Ensuring Security and Efficiency
Samsung emphasized its Knox security platform that protects user data on connected appliances. The 4-Door French Door Refrigerator with AI Family Hub™ achieved a level ‘Diamond’ certification for IoT security from UL Solutions.
The event showcased products like the Bespoke French Door Refrigerator with AI Family Hub™+, Bespoke Infinite Induction Line, Bespoke AI Laundry Combo™, Bespoke Jet Bot Combo™ AI, and more. These products offer innovative features like AI Object Recognition in the robot vacuum cleaner and AI Opti Wash & Dry™ in the laundry combo.
Samsung also announced Smart Forward, a service providing regular software updates for Wi-Fi-connected appliances, enhancing their features and security. The company aims to reduce energy consumption through features like Optimal Charging and SmartThings Energy.
Collaborations with partners like British Gas and Disney/Pixar’s “Inside Out 2” were also highlighted, showcasing Samsung’s commitment to innovation, efficiency, and user experience in home appliances.
