Previously, users needed both an IKEA hub and a SmartThings hub to connect devices. Now, IKEA devices can be linked directly to SmartThings, removing extra steps and making the setup process much easier.

Beyond that, these devices also work smoothly with Samsung appliances such as TVs, air conditioners, and washing machines, as well as a wide range of third-party products within the SmartThings ecosystem.

For example, users can attach an IKEA door sensor to monitor activity at home through SmartThings Family Care. This makes it easier to check in on loved ones, such as elderly parents, even from a distance.

• Temperature and humidity
• Carbon dioxide levels
• Light intensity

SmartThings then compares this data with recommended ranges and provides personalised suggestions—like adjusting room temperature to around 19–21°C for better sleep.

Users can also automate routines. For instance:

• Turn on dehumidification when humidity rises
• Receive alerts when water leaks are detected

A standout addition is IKEA’s scroll wheel remote, designed for precise and intuitive control.

With a simple rotation, users can:

• Adjust brightness levels
• Fine-tune color temperature
• Control compatible devices like blinds
