I have tested plenty of wireless earbuds, but every time a new pair of ‘Pro’ earbuds lands in my hands, I ask the same question: what makes these worth upgrading to?

This time, it is the Samsung Galaxy Buds4 Pro.

On paper, they promise a premium listening experience packed into a tiny pair of earbuds. But specifications are only half the story. What matters to me is how they perform in the real world — whether the sound feels rich, whether the noise cancellation can keep up with a busy environment, whether they are comfortable enough for long listening sessions, and most importantly, whether I actually enjoy using them.

So, I put the Galaxy Buds4 Pro through my everyday routine to see whether these premium earbuds can deliver the kind of experience that makes you want to keep them in all day.

Design and Features

The first thing I noticed about the Galaxy Buds4 Pro is that Samsung has completely reworked the look compared with the previous Galaxy Buds3 Pro. The difference is immediately noticeable. Instead of the sharper, more angular blade design of the Buds3 Pro, the Galaxy Buds4 Pro features a flatter, more refined metal blade, giving the earbuds a cleaner, more premium look. Samsung has also removed the previous Blade Light, leaving behind a more minimalist design that looks understated but still distinctive.

The earbuds’ shape has also been redesigned. The earbud head is smaller, while the new ergonomic structure is designed to sit more naturally inside the ear. Samsung says the Buds4 series was developed using more than 100 million global ear-shape data points and over 10,000 simulations to improve stability and comfort. For me, this makes the Galaxy Buds4 Pro feel less like a simple redesign and more like Samsung has gone back to rethink how the earbuds actually sit and feel when worn.

Another noticeable change is the charging case. The Galaxy Buds4 Pro now comes in a compact, transparent clamshell-style case where the earbuds sit horizontally, rather than the taller case design used by the Buds3 Pro. The translucent cover also gives you a clear view of the earbuds inside, while the magnetic docking helps keep them securely in position when charging.

But Samsung has not changed the design just for appearance. The new metal blade also plays a role in controlling the earbuds. The blade has a dedicated pinch-control area, allowing you to interact with your music and calls more naturally, while swipe controls can be used for adjusting the volume. It is a much more tactile approach, and I like that Samsung has made the control area easier to locate by touch.

And this is where the Galaxy Buds4 Pro starts to feel like more than just a new pair of earbuds. The redesigned shape, smaller earbud head, metal blade, and new case all come together to create a completely different identity from the Buds3 Pro — while still keeping the Galaxy Buds DNA that Samsung users will recognise.

Notifications

The Galaxy Buds4 Pro can help you stay connected without constantly reaching for your smartphone. When notification reading is enabled on a compatible Galaxy device, supported notifications can be read aloud through the earbuds, allowing you to keep up with important messages and alerts while you are listening to music.

This can be particularly useful when you are working, exercising, or on the move. Instead of stopping what you are doing just to check your phone, you can hear important notifications and decide whether you need to respond immediately.

For someone who is constantly moving between work, calls, and everyday activities, this is one of those small conveniences that can make the Galaxy Buds4 Pro feel more integrated into your daily routine.

Seamless Connectivity

The Galaxy Buds4 Pro is designed to work closely with the Galaxy ecosystem, making it easier to move between compatible Galaxy devices. With features such as Auto Switch, the earbuds can automatically switch the audio connection between supported Galaxy devices when the situation calls for it.

For example, if you are listening to music from your Galaxy smartphone and then receive a call on another compatible Galaxy device, the Buds4 Pro can help manage the connection without requiring you to manually disconnect and reconnect the earbuds every time.

This is particularly useful if you are someone who works across multiple Galaxy devices throughout the day.

Control at Your Fingertips — Literally

One of the biggest changes with the Galaxy Buds4 Pro is the way you interact with the earbuds. Instead of relying on traditional tapping, Samsung uses pinch and swipe controls on the blade, giving you a more tactile way to control your music and calls.

Using Pinch and Swipe Controls

• Pinch twice: Skip to the next track.
• Pinch three times: Return to the previous track.
• Pinch and hold: Perform the assigned action, such as changing noise control modes.
• Swipe up or down: Adjust the volume.

I personally like this approach because you can feel the physical control rather than repeatedly tapping the earbuds and wondering whether the command has registered.

Voice Control

The Galaxy Buds4 Pro also adds hands-free voice control. With compatible Galaxy devices, you can use voice commands to control functions such as music playback and volume without reaching for your smartphone.

This becomes even more interesting when the Buds4 Pro is paired with Samsung’s Galaxy AI ecosystem. Compatible Galaxy devices unlock additional AI-powered features, including Interpreter, making the earbuds part of a more connected, intelligent Galaxy experience.

Ultimately, the Galaxy Buds4 Pro is not just about listening to music. The combination of physical controls, voice interaction, notifications, and Galaxy ecosystem connectivity makes these earbuds feel much more like an extension of your smartphone.

Sound Quality, Active Noise Cancellation, and Battery Life

Sound Quality

The Galaxy Buds3 Pro already impressed me with its rich bass and crisp highs, using a two-way speaker system with independently controlled amplification for its woofer and tweeter. But moving to the Galaxy Buds4 Pro, I immediately noticed that Samsung has taken the sound experience in a different direction.

The moment I put the Galaxy Buds4 Pro into my ears and pressed play, the difference was noticeable. Whether I was listening to something soft and relaxing, switching to R&B, or playing tracks with heavier bass and stronger beats, the sound felt fuller, more controlled, and more immersive.

But there is another important part of this listening experience that I cannot ignore — the Active Noise Cancellation (ANC).

Two Drivers Working Together

The Galaxy Buds4 Pro uses an enhanced 2-way speaker system with two dedicated drivers in each earbud: a newly designed wider woofer for the lower frequencies and a 5.5mm planar tweeter for the higher frequencies. Each driver has its own dedicated amplifier, allowing Samsung to control them independently for more precise sound reproduction and reduced interference.

The wider woofer is particularly interesting. Samsung has increased its effective speaker area by almost 20% compared with the Galaxy Buds3 Pro, giving the driver more room to reproduce the lower frequencies. The result is designed to deliver deeper, more textured bass while keeping the overall sound balanced.

Samsung has also positioned the 2-way speaker on the upper side of the metal finish of the earbud. This placement is designed to support the ANC system while helping minimise interference from wind and other external factors.

ANC That Changes the Listening Experience

For me, good sound is not only about how powerful the speaker is. What happens around you matters just as much.

This is where the Galaxy Buds4 Pro’s Enhanced ANC comes into play.

The earbuds continuously process the sound around you and adapt the noise-cancelling performance according to your ear shape and how the earbuds are fitted. Samsung has also introduced enhanced Adaptive ANC/EQ, allowing the Buds4 Pro to adjust its processing in real time for a more consistent listening experience.

And I can understand why this matters when listening to music.

When I am somewhere busy, I do not want to keep increasing the volume just to overpower the surroundings. With the ANC working in the background, outside distractions are reduced, allowing the music to become the main focus.

That makes a difference particularly with songs where there are quieter vocals, subtle instruments or softer details. Instead of fighting against the environment, I can actually concentrate on what I am listening to.

Adaptive Noise Control — When You Still Want to Hear the World

Of course, I do not always want to shut myself away completely.

This is where Adaptive Noise Control becomes useful. The Galaxy Buds4 Pro can adjust the balance between ANC and ambient sound in real time, depending on the environment.

So if I am walking around, working in a café, or somewhere where I still need to be aware of people around me, I can allow more of the surrounding sound through without having to remove the earbuds.

For me, this makes the Buds4 Pro more practical for everyday use. There is a difference between wanting to enjoy music and wanting to completely disconnect from the world — and having both options available is what makes the experience more flexible.

But What If You Want More Bass?

This is where I think Galaxy Buds4 Pro users should spend some time inside the Galaxy Wearable settings.

Even though the hardware already delivers a very capable low-end response, you do not have to stick with the default sound profile. Samsung provides a 9-band Equalizer, allowing you to customise the bass, treble and overall tone according to your preference.

If you are someone who loves heavier bass for R&B, hip-hop or electronic music, you can adjust the lower frequencies to give your music more impact. If you prefer vocals and instruments to stand out more, you can tune the profile towards a brighter and more balanced sound.

Personally, I appreciate having this level of adjustment because everyone’s ears and music preferences are different.

The Galaxy Buds4 Pro also uses Adaptive EQ, which can optimise the sound based on your ear shape and wearing style. This helps maintain a more personalised listening experience even when the way you wear the earbuds changes.

Call Quality

The call quality on the Galaxy Buds4 Pro is another area where I was genuinely impressed. Even when I am in a busy environment, the earbuds do a good job of focusing on my voice while reducing the surrounding noise.

Whether I am typing on my keyboard, working around people, or moving through a busier environment, the person on the other end of the call can still hear me clearly without being overwhelmed by every little sound happening around me.

Samsung has equipped the Galaxy Buds4 Pro with multiple microphones, a Voice Pickup Unit, and AI-powered noise reduction to help separate my voice from the surrounding environment. With a compatible Galaxy smartphone, the Buds4 Pro can also support Super Wideband for higher-quality voice calls.

Of course, no pair of earbuds can completely erase an extremely loud environment. If you are standing beside heavy construction, loud machinery, or a particularly noisy road, some background sound may still make its way through. But in my everyday use, the Galaxy Buds4 Pro has delivered clear and natural-sounding calls, making it an earbud I can comfortably rely on not only for music, but also for my conversations throughout the day.

Battery Life

The Galaxy Buds4 Pro comes with a 61mAh battery in each earbud, paired with a 530mAh charging case. For my daily use, this gives me enough battery to enjoy long listening sessions without constantly worrying about reaching for the charging case.

With Active Noise Cancellation turned on, Samsung rates the Galaxy Buds4 Pro for up to 6 hours of music playback on a single charge, with up to 26 hours of total listening time when combined with the charging case. If ANC is turned off, the battery life can stretch to up to 7 hours on the earbuds and up to 30 hours in total.

For calls, the Buds4 Pro can deliver up to 4.5 hours of talk time with ANC on, or up to 5 hours with ANC off. For me, the battery performance feels practical for everyday use, especially when I am moving between work, travelling, and simply enjoying my music throughout the day.

Overall, the Galaxy Buds4 Pro gives me the kind of battery life I expect from premium wireless earbuds — enough to keep the music going without making charging another thing I constantly have to think about.

My Listening Experience

For me, this is where the Galaxy Buds4 Pro really separates itself from the previous generation.

Samsung can talk about wider woofers, planar tweeters, Dual Amplifiers, Adaptive EQ and Enhanced ANC, but once I put the earbuds on, I want to hear whether all of that technology actually makes a difference.

And honestly, I could hear it.

From softer tracks where vocals need to remain clean and natural, to R&B where the bassline needs to have weight and presence, the Galaxy Buds4 Pro gave me a sound that felt more spacious, controlled, and immersive.

The bass does not simply become louder. There is more definition to it, while the highs remain detailed without getting completely lost behind the lower frequencies.

And when the ANC is working together with the audio system, this is where the experience becomes even more enjoyable. The less I hear of the surrounding distractions, the more I can concentrate on the music itself.

The Galaxy Buds4 Pro also supports Samsung Seamless Codec Ultra High Quality Audio, delivering up to 24-bit/96kHz audio when paired with compatible Galaxy devices.

So, after spending time listening to different types of music, I can say that what Samsung promised on paper is something I could actually experience when listening to the Galaxy Buds4 Pro.

The combination of the wider woofer, precision tweeter, dedicated amplification, adaptive sound processing, and Enhanced ANC gives these earbuds a noticeably different character from the Galaxy Buds3 Pro.

For me, the Galaxy Buds4 Pro is not simply about producing louder or heavier music. It is about creating a listening environment where the music feels cleaner, deeper, and more immersive — while still giving me control over how much of the outside world I want to hear.
