Samsung Electronics announced today that SmartThings, its global connected living platform, has earned the ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certification for information security management systems (ISMSs).

ISO 27001 is the foremost international standard for ISMSs, established by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). It offers companies a framework to systematically manage risks to information assets and achieve robust information protection.

This certification was awarded by the British Standards Institution (BSI), a globally recognized standardization and certification body. To qualify, a company must meet stringent criteria across 123 detailed items, including information security policies, access control measures, and incident response protocols. With this certification, Samsung demonstrates that the information protection of its SmartThings Cloud aligns with international standards while delivering seamless connected experiences. This recognition enhances trust and strengthens business competitiveness, benefiting both SmartThings users and partners.

“The growing importance of cloud technology and information protection in today’s fast-evolving business environment cannot be overstated,” said Harold Pradal, President of Assurance Services at BSI. “We have found that Samsung SmartThings exhibits exceptional operational capabilities and security standards.”

“Achieving ISO 27001 certification reflects our unwavering commitment to safeguarding information in an increasingly hyper-connected world,” said Seungbum Choi, Executive Vice President and Head of Device Platform Center at Samsung Electronics. “This milestone is just one step in our ongoing efforts to enhance the security of the SmartThings platform. We will continue to innovate and ensure that SmartThings’ personalized services are delivered with the highest level of safety.”
