The Galaxy Z Fold6 Durability Craftmanship
August 19, 2024The Galaxy Z Fold series integrates cutting-edge technology into a versatile form factor that allows the device’s large screen to fold and unfold. Revealed at Galaxy Unpacked 2024, the Galaxy Z Fold6 has captivated users with its sleek design and innovative features, showcasing the limitless potential of foldable phones. Maintaining its durability while being more compact and lightweight, this latest model in the Z Fold series is equipped with Galaxy AI, optimized specifically for foldable to elevate user productivity to new heights. Are you curious about the secrets behind the Galaxy Z Fold6’s innovations? Samsung Newsroom took a closer look.
- Main Display
The main display offers a peak brightness of 2,600 nits, ensuring the screen remains clear even in direct sunlight. Vision Booster enhances the visual experience by adjusting colors and contrast according to different lighting conditions. - Wing Plate
The wing plate enables the Galaxy Z Fold6 to fold and unfold smoothly. Positioned between the display and the hinge, it aligns and protects the display from mechanical damage. Despite its thinness, the wing plate is made from a special, highly durable material. - Hinge
The hinge is the central axis for folding and unfolding the phone. As slimmer devices require narrower hinge spaces, advanced hinge technology is crucial to maintaining performance and stability. The Galaxy Z Fold6’s hinge is smaller and slimmer but equally durable, thanks to new reinforced materials, making the phone ultra-portable. - Front Case
The case is thinner and lighter than its predecessor yet remains resilient. Made of Enhanced Armor Aluminum, it protects the foldable’s internal components like armor. The case’s IP48-rated water resistance ensures the Galaxy Z Fold6 can be used safely even in wet conditions. - Vapor Chamber
Vapor chambers dissipate heat to prevent smartphones from overheating. A larger vapor chamber facilitates heat diffusion, helping the device maintain stable performance. The Galaxy Z Fold6 features a vapor chamber that is about 1.6 times larger than that of the Galaxy Z Fold5. - Main Battery
To achieve the slimmer design, Samsung incorporated a thinner main battery, which is divided into two parts, unlike the single battery found in bar-type smartphones. - Sub Battery
Located on the opposite side of the main battery, the sub-battery has also been slimmed down to fit the Galaxy Z Fold6’s sleek design. - Main PBA
The printed board assembly (PBA) is the brain of a smartphone, housing essential components like the application processor and memory. To create a thinner design, Samsung transitioned from a stacked, multilayer PBA to a single-layer one. - Sub-PBA
The sub-PBA contains chips responsible for the device’s display and speakers. Samsung used a slim printed circuit board (PCB) for the sub-PBA to maintain the device’s thin profile. - Back Cover
The back cover is the final step in the Galaxy Z Fold6 manufacturing process. It not only protects internal components but also highlights the foldable’s sleek design. Made with Corning’s Gorilla® Glass Victus® 2, known for its durability, the back cover ensures the phone is well-protected. - Sub Display
The Galaxy Z Fold6 features a more balanced, horizontally wider screen ratio, greatly improving usability. Users can fold the device and still enjoy a comfortable viewing experience on the sub-display. Like the main display, the sub-display can reach up to 2,600 nits, providing clear visibility even in bright daylight.
