Samsung Celebrates 10 Years of SDC and Spotlights AI-Based

At the Samsung Developer Conference (SDC) at the San Jose McEnery Convention Center, Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. marked a decade of collaboration and innovation with developers. This year’s event focused on Samsung’s vision of delivering a more personalized, secure, and seamless experience across its ecosystem of devices, driven by the concept of “AI for All.”

Speaking to an audience of over 3,000 developers, partners, and media, Jong-Hee (JH) Han, Vice Chairman, CEO, and Head of Device eXperience (DX) Division at Samsung Electronics, emphasized the importance of open collaboration in strengthening competitiveness in the AI era. He highlighted Samsung’s efforts to use AI to enhance personalization, security, family care, and business solutions. Han said, “We are advancing AI to recognize individual users through their voice, location, and behavior, offering them a tailored experience across our devices. Our AI technology will create more convenient and secure multi-device experiences through AI-based software, platform innovation, and security advancements.”

Samsung also announced the integration of its software experience across its product lines, from smartphones to TVs and home appliances, under One UI. By 2025, all Samsung devices will benefit from this unified user interface, offering a cohesive experience and extended software updates for up to seven years, ensuring continuous innovation for users.

As part of its AI for All initiative, Samsung aims to foster the development of AI that benefits society, empowering innovators to use cutting-edge technologies to tackle global challenges. Samsung reiterated its commitment to privacy and security, leveraging on-device AI and cloud-based generative AI without compromising user data.

Key announcements at SDC24 include:

  1. AI Integration Across Devices: Samsung is enhancing Galaxy AI to boost productivity, creativity, and communication. In home appliances, Bespoke AI will simplify daily tasks, while AI-powered smart TVs with Tizen OS will offer more personalized entertainment experiences. AI enhancements are also coming to Bixby, SmartThings, and One UI 7, focusing on convenience and cross-device functionality.
  2. One UI 7 Sneak Peek: Samsung provided a glimpse of the upcoming One UI 7, designed for more intuitive, creative, and productive experiences. The new user interface features a clean, dynamic design and integrates Galaxy AI seamlessly into daily activities. A developer beta will be available by the end of the year.
  3. AI Smart Home: Bespoke AI appliances are transforming household management. For example, the AI Vision Inside feature in refrigerators and AI-driven capabilities in Bespoke Jet Bot Combo™ will offer more efficient home automation. Additionally, AI-upgraded Bixby allows users to control their smart home via voice commands, improving accessibility and convenience.
  4. AI-Driven TVs and Displays: Samsung smart TVs are receiving AI-enhanced search capabilities and personalized content recommendations, while the new Daily Board SDK for developers enables smart TVs to serve as an information hub for weather, device health, and more. Samsung also showcased VXT, its next-gen signage solution, powered by AI for efficient content management.
  5. Tizen’s Expansion: The Tizen OS is extending its reach with on-device AI capabilities, smarter performance for TVs and home appliances, and deeper integration with the Galaxy ecosystem. Tizen will also support RISC-V and provide new developer tools in 2026.
  6. SmartThings Enhancements: Samsung’s SmartThings platform, which now boasts over 350 million users, is being further upgraded with AI-driven features such as Home Insight, which analyzes device usage patterns to optimize the home environment. Samsung also announced plans to integrate SmartThings more deeply with Samsung Health for personalized health management.
  7. Security in the AI Era: Samsung reinforced its commitment to security with the expansion of Samsung Knox across its ecosystem, ensuring robust protection across all devices. The Knox Matrix system will now include TVs and home appliances, offering multi-device security. Passkey, Samsung’s password-free login solution, will debut in 2025 for Tizen-powered devices, further enhancing user convenience and safety.
