
Samsung and Google Cloud Partner Bringing Advanced to Galaxy

This groundbreaking partnership was unveiled with the announcement of the Samsung Galaxy S24 series at Galaxy Unpacked in San Jose, California. Samsung becomes the first to deploy Google Cloud’s Gemini Pro and Imagen 2 on Vertex AI to smartphone users worldwide, starting with the Galaxy S24 series.
Revolutionizing Smartphone Experience with Gemini Pro and Imagen 2 Janghyun Yoon, Corporate EVP and Head of Software Office of Mobile eXperience Business at Samsung Electronics, emphasized the shared values of Samsung and Google in making technology more helpful and accessible. He expressed excitement about the Galaxy S24 series being the inaugural smartphone to feature Gemini Pro and Imagen 2 on Vertex AI. This achievement follows months of meticulous testing and collaborative efforts between Google Cloud and Samsung teams.
Gemini Pro on Vertex AI, exclusive to Samsung as the first Google Cloud partner, is a multimodal AI capable of understanding and integrating various information types, including text, code, images, and video. Users can experience Gemini’s summarization features across Samsung-native applications like Notes, Voice Recorder, and Keyboard, enhancing productivity and user experience. Gemini Pro also ensures critical aspects such as security, safety, privacy, and data compliance.
Imagen 2: Elevating Photo Editing Capabilities The Galaxy S24 series will also benefit from Imagen 2, the most advanced text-to-image diffusion technology from Google DeepMind. Imagen 2 on Vertex AI enables intuitive and safe photo-editing capabilities, available in the Generative Edit feature within the S24’s Gallery application.
Exploring the Potential of Gemini Ultra and Gemini Nano Samsung is also among the first to test Gemini Ultra, Google’s most sophisticated model designed for complex tasks. Additionally, the S24 series will incorporate Gemini Nano, an efficient on-device Large Language Model (LLM) included in the Android 14 operating system, optimizing performance for on-device tasks.
A Partnership Aiming for Impactful Mobile Experiences Thomas Kurian, CEO of Google Cloud, highlighted the immense potential of generative AI in creating compelling mobile experiences. He stressed that this partnership allows Samsung developers to leverage Google Cloud’s infrastructure, performance, and flexibility to develop safe, reliable, and engaging AI-powered applications for Samsung smartphones.
