The collaboration aims to move smartphone AI beyond answering questions, enabling users to organise travel plans, manage files and create ready-to-use content with a single prompt.

OPPO is taking its smartphone AI ambitions a step further through a new collaboration with Manus, an AI agent platform designed to handle complex, multi-step tasks. By integrating Manus’ capabilities into OPPO AI Mind Pilot, the company aims to transform how users interact with their smartphones, moving beyond simple questions and answers towards AI that can actively help get things done.

The collaboration reflects OPPO’s vision of Personalised Proactive Intelligence, where AI understands users’ intentions and helps turn them into practical results.

“Agentic AI marks an important shift from answering questions to helping users get things done,” said Kai Tang, President of Software Engineering at OPPO. He added that the collaboration would make AI Mind Pilot more capable of understanding user intentions, taking action, and completing tasks, to make personal AI a natural part of everyday life and work.

Manus Co-Founder and Chief Product Officer Tao Zhang echoed this vision, highlighting smartphones as a natural platform for personal AI agents because of their central role in managing everyday activities.

From Simple Prompts to Completed Tasks

The collaboration will debut through the new Agent Mode in AI Mind Pilot on the upcoming OPPO Find X10 Series running ColorOS 17.

Rather than simply responding to instructions, AI Mind Pilot is designed to understand a user’s end goal, break it down into manageable steps, identify relevant information and select suitable tools to deliver a finished result. It can also work directly with files and photos stored on the device.

Consider planning a holiday. Instead of switching between multiple apps to locate flight tickets, hotel bookings, restaurant reservations and attraction tickets, users can ask AI Mind Pilot to organise their travel plans. The AI can gather relevant information from across the smartphone, combine it with useful online information and produce a personalised, day-by-day itinerary.

The same approach extends to creative and professional workflows. Users can ask AI Mind Pilot to locate photographs from a trip, organise existing files or combine local documents with online information to create presentations, proposals and portfolios. The idea is to reduce repetitive manual work and turn a single prompt into something immediately useful.

Privacy and Control Remain Central

As AI takes on more responsibilities, access to personal information becomes an increasingly important consideration. OPPO says AI Mind Pilot is designed to keep users in control of their data and the actions the AI performs.

ColorOS 17 uses on-device models to understand and organise relevant information locally. For tasks such as finding, organising, or renaming files and photographs, the original content stays on the smartphone and isn’t shared with Manus.

When a task requires external processing, AI Mind Pilot will request the user’s explicit confirmation before uploading or sharing relevant content. Users retain control over the information accessed, the actions taken and whether external processing is permitted.

This approach aims to balance the convenience of agentic AI with transparency, privacy and user choice.

Coming to the OPPO Find X10 Series

Manus-powered Agent Mode will make its debut on the OPPO Find X10 Series with ColorOS 17. Further details regarding availability, supported markets and user benefits will be announced at launch.

If delivered as intended, the collaboration could mark a meaningful shift in smartphone productivity. Rather than simply helping users find information, OPPO’s latest AI initiative aims to help them turn that information into completed tasks, making the smartphone a more capable assistant for everyday life and work.
