Sam Edelman Opens Its First Penang Boutique at Gurney Plaza

A new lady is in town — and she has arrived in Penang.

American footwear brand Sam Edelman is expanding its presence in Malaysia with the opening of its first Penang boutique at Gurney Plaza, bringing its signature mix of timeless American style and modern sophistication to shoppers in northern Malaysia.

Located at Ground Floor, Lot 170-G-23A/25, Gurney Plaza, the new 1,056-square-foot boutique is the brand’s first standalone store outside the Klang Valley and its third boutique in Malaysia.

The Penang opening comes about a year after Sam Edelman made its Malaysian debut at The Gardens Mall in September 2025. Since then, the brand has expanded through an in-store counter at SEIBU, The Exchange TRX, a Suria KLCC pop-up and a second standalone boutique at Sunway Pyramid.

Now, Penang gets its own Sam Edelman destination.

A New Fashion Destination Up North

The new boutique brings Sam Edelman’s modern-luxe identity into a warm and welcoming retail space.

The exterior features a luminous gold-toned façade paired with the brand’s signature script logo. Step inside and shoppers will find a soft neutral colour palette complemented by warm wood finishes, gold accents and a textured sage green feature wall.

Sculptural furniture, statement lighting and monochrome details add personality to the space, while open displays and seating areas allow shoppers to browse the collection comfortably.

At the centre of the boutique are some of Sam Edelman’s signature styles, designed to move easily between everyday dressing and more polished occasions.

Among the key silhouettes are the Alie Ballet Flats, featuring a delicate bow; Bay Sandals, designed for effortless everyday wear; Bianka Sling, with its sleek slingback profile and understated heel; and the pointed-toe Hazel Pumps, which can take an outfit from day to evening.

The collection also includes the Michaela Flats, a contemporary take on the classic ballet flat, and Langley Sneakers, a vintage-inspired trainer designed with a cushioned footbed.

Together, these styles reflect the brand’s focus on versatility, everyday wearability and timeless design.

Fall/Winter 2026: She’s a Lady

The Penang opening also coincides with the launch of Sam Edelman’s Fall/Winter 2026 collection, “She’s a Lady.”

The collection celebrates modern femininity through three different style directions: Maximalist, Modern Boho and Sharp Tailoring.

Maximalist brings a more playful attitude to dressing, with embellishments, striking textures and dramatic proportions designed to make a statement.

For those who prefer a softer and more relaxed look, Modern Boho combines suede, lightweight fabrics and effortless silhouettes with a more polished finish.

Meanwhile, Sharp Tailoring takes inspiration from structured silhouettes, heritage-inspired plaids and rich textures, balancing a sense of strength with softer feminine details.

The collection includes pieces such as the Alie, Deena and Margeaux Mesh, priced from RM609, alongside the Lucille, Evara, Ruthie, Betsey, Vienna and Hazel styles, with selected designs priced up to RM759.

A Little Something for Penang Shoppers

To celebrate the opening, Sam Edelman is also taking the launch outside the boutique with a special three-day café pop-up from 11 to 13 September in collaboration with Ghim Ghim (@ghimghim.cafe).

Visitors can enjoy a selection of coffee, matcha and yuzu soda. Simply follow @sam_edelman.my on Instagram and show the account to the café staff to receive a complimentary drink, while stocks last.
