OXY Expands Children’s Education Initiative to Johor, Supporting 160 Students
September 9, 2026OXY is taking its “Sending Love & Care to Children” initiative beyond the Klang Valley for the first time, bringing its education and wellness programme to 160 underserved students across four primary schools in Masai, Johor.
Now in its fifth consecutive year, the initiative is organised together with Watsons Malaysia and MyKasih Foundation, building on previous programmes that have supported 935 Orang Asli students.
This year’s programme will reach students from Sekolah Kebangsaan Perigi Acheh, Sekolah Kebangsaan Tanjung Langsat, Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Tamil Masai and Sekolah Kebangsaan Bandar Seri Alam.
Helping Children Build Stronger Foundations
The programme goes beyond simply providing school supplies. Selected students will take part in structured after-school activities designed to strengthen their reading, writing and numeracy skills.
The participating schools will also receive classroom learning aids and mini libraries customised to their individual needs.
This means students can have access to additional learning resources while teachers and schools receive support in creating a more engaging environment for learning.
“Education has the power to shape not only what children know, but also who they believe they can become,” said Lim Mei Yuen, General Manager of Rohto-Mentholatum (M) Sdn Bhd.
“As we expand this initiative to Johor, we hope to give more children the opportunity to learn with confidence, discover their potential and build brighter futures. Through education, sports and wellness, we aspire to nurture future leaders who are equipped academically, physically and emotionally—and who remain eager to learn, grow and become better every day.”
Learning Doesn’t Stop in the Classroom
OXY is also incorporating sports and wellness activities into the programme, giving students an opportunity to develop skills that go beyond academics.
Football clinics and track-and-field sessions encourage students to stay active while building teamwork, communication, perseverance and self-confidence.
OXY employees and volunteers support the activities, allowing the team to engage directly with students while encouraging a healthier, more confident approach to growing up.
Through MyKasih Foundation’s established school-support network, the literacy programmes are also tailored according to the needs of each participating school. This helps ensure that the support provided is relevant rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach.
RM50,000 Raised Through Consumer Support
The initiative is funded through an OXY fundraising campaign held at Watsons Malaysia.
From 1 to 31 August 2026, RM1 from every OXY product sold at Watsons Malaysia was channelled into the education fund.
The campaign raised RM50,000, which will support students across the four participating schools in Johor.
For OXY, the initiative is about creating opportunities for children who may not have the same access to educational resources and enrichment activities.
By combining academic support with sports, wellness and community involvement, the programme aims to help children develop not only stronger learning foundations but also the confidence and resilience they need as they grow.
The initiative is aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 4: Quality Education and SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities.
As OXY expands “Sending Love & Care to Children” into Johor, the programme continues its broader mission of supporting underserved communities and helping more children learn, grow and look towards a more inclusive future.
