OPPO, a global technology leader, has unveiled the 15 promising tech start-ups that have made it to the Global Final Demo Event of the 2023 OPPO Inspiration Challenge. The announcement comes after successful regional demo events held earlier this month in Boston, Shenzhen, and Bangkok. These innovative start-ups and their groundbreaking ideas will gather in Singapore this October to compete for a coveted spot in the global top 5.

The 2023 OPPO Inspiration Challenge received an overwhelming response, with 687 innovative proposals pouring in from 66 countries and regions. Focusing on two key entry categories, “Inspiration for People” and “Inspiration for the Planet,” the competition aimed to bring forth ideas that drive positive change. After a rigorous evaluation process, the top 15 solutions from each region were selected to participate in the regional demo events.

The first regional demo event was hosted by the OPPO Research Institute in collaboration with the Harvard GSAS Entrepreneur Community. Held at the Harvard Club of Boston on July 27, this event saw 15 start-ups from Europe, the United States, and Israel presenting their solutions to a panel of judges. Subsequently, the entrants engaged in insightful technical discussions with notable figures like Jason Liao, Head of OPPO Research Institute, and executives from Harvard Business School and investment institutions.

The second regional demo event took place in Shenzhen on July 31, in partnership with the China University-Enterprise Collaboration Innovation Alliance (CUEC). Key OPPO executives, including Bobee Liu, Vice President and President of China Market, and Leo Zeng, Head of OPPO Health Lab, attended the event. Distinguished judges from Qualcomm Ventures, Amazon Web Services, GSMA 5G IN, and Beihang Investment were also present. Attendees had the chance to vote for the winners of the “Media Choice” and “Virtuous Innovation” awards.

The final regional demo event occurred on August 7 in Bangkok, in collaboration with Chulalongkorn University. This event featured experts from Amazon Web Services and Deloitte in the judging process. Professor Kaywalee Chatdarong, Vice President of Chulalongkorn University, expressed honor in being OPPO’s regional partner, emphasizing the shared vision for a future filled with innovation and possibilities.

Now, the global top 15 entrants have been determined based on criteria such as feasibility, innovation, long-term potential, and social value. These start-ups and their solutions will vie for recognition in the global final of the 2023 OPPO Inspiration Challenge. By harnessing the power of digital health, accessible technology, and sustainability, these innovators are paving the way for a brighter future for everyone.
