Honda Malaysia has announced the upcoming launch of the New City Hatchback in Quarter 2, 2024. Known for its popularity in the Non-National hatchback segment, the facelifted model is now available for booking at all Honda dealerships across the country.
Mr. Hironobu Yoshimura, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Honda Malaysia, highlighted the success of the City Hatchback since its debut in 2021. Praising its design, technology, and practicality, he mentioned how it has become a favorite among drivers, selling over 28,700 units and solidifying its position as a leading hatchback in Malaysia.
Introduced in 2021 as Honda Malaysia’s second model with e:HEV technology, the City Hatchback’s e:HEV RS variant has contributed significantly to the company’s hybrid sales, capturing 16% of the market. In 2023 alone, Honda Malaysia sold 10,300 units of the City Hatchback, establishing a strong presence in the Non-National hatchback segment.
The facelifted City Hatchback boasts upgrades in its design, offering a sleeker and more dynamic appearance. The e:HEV RS variant stands out with its sharper exterior, featuring newly designed front grilles, bumper, and alloy wheels, enhancing its sporty appeal.
Powered by a 1.5L e:HEV powertrain, the RS variant delivers impressive performance with 109PS and 253Nm of torque, while the petrol version offers 121PS of output and 145Nm of torque, maintaining a balance between performance and fuel efficiency.
Safety features have also been enhanced in the New City Hatchback, with Honda SENSING technology available across all variants, including additional features like Lead Car Departure Notification (LCDN) and Low-Speed Follow (LSF) in the e:HEV RS variant, ensuring a safer and more convenient driving experience.
