Stay Cool and Sleep Comfortably with Samsung’s WindFree
August 27, 2024Samsung air conditioners featuring the innovative WindFree™ technology have gained widespread acclaim globally. Since their international launch in 2017, sales outside Korea have consistently grown, with an impressive average annual growth rate of 30.7% over the past three years (as of mid-2024).
The Samsung Newsroom explored the reasons behind the global popularity of this advanced air conditioning technology.
A recent survey conducted by Samsung, involving 1,840 respondents from Brazil, India, Italy, Korea, Thailand, and the United States, revealed that 44.6% of participants prefer WindFree™ air conditioning. Of these users, 58% cited “comfortable sleep” as the main reason for their choice, indicating that consumers increasingly expect air conditioners to offer more than just basic cooling functions.
The survey also found that air conditioners are most frequently used before and after bedtime, with 48% of respondents using them from 9 p.m. until bedtime, and 42% during sleep.
WindFree™ technology’s unique design features 270,000 micro air holes that evenly distribute airflow. Once the room reaches the desired temperature, the unit automatically switches to WindFree™ mode, gently cooling the space without the discomfort of cold air blowing directly on the skin, creating an ideal environment for restful sleep.
Energy savings were the second most popular reason users favored WindFree™ air conditioning. As concerns about climate change grow, consumers are increasingly interested in energy-efficient solutions. WindFree™ mode reduces electricity usage by up to 77% compared to maximum cooling settings, providing significant savings on electricity bills during hot summer months.
Additionally, survey respondents highlighted benefits such as “even cooling” (50%), “minimizing physical irritation” (48%), and the use of “AI automatic cooling” (44%).
The WindFree™ air conditioner has received numerous international awards, including top honors for the third consecutive year at the 2024 Korean Innovation Frontier Awards, the MCE Excellence Award at the 2024 Mostra Convegno Expocomfort (MCE), a leading global HVAC and refrigeration exhibition, and the Top Quality/Price award in the air conditioner category from the German Institute for Quality and Finance (ITQF) in 2022.
“Since its debut in 2016, WindFree™ air conditioning has been widely appreciated by consumers worldwide,” said Byoungha Song, Head of Air Solution Product Planning Group, DA Business at Samsung Electronics. “We will continue to deliver innovative products that provide personalized comfort to all of our users.”
