Samsung Knox CC Certifications for 2024 TVs

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. has proudly announced that its renowned security solution, Samsung Knox, integrated into its 2024 TVs, has obtained Common Criteria (CC) certification even before the product’s official launch.

The CC certification is a globally recognized standard, endorsed by 31 countries worldwide, for evaluating the security integrity of IT products. Samsung has achieved a remarkable milestone of 10 consecutive years of CC certification for Samsung Knox, a leading security solution for its TVs that has continuously enhanced its features year after year. This year, Samsung Knox sets a new benchmark by obtaining validation before the 2024 TVs hit the market.

Yongjae Kim, Executive Vice President of the Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics, highlighted the importance of privacy and security in today’s interconnected world. He expressed pride in achieving a decade of CC certification for Samsung Knox on TVs, showcasing the company’s commitment to strengthening security measures and standards.

The CC plays a crucial role in ensuring consistent and stringent evaluation standards for IT products, thereby enhancing evaluation efficiency and certification reliability. By maintaining improved evaluation processes and consistent standards, the CC aims to instill confidence in the security of certified IT products. The CC certification comprises a Protection Profile (PP) and a Security Target (ST), both of which Samsung Knox has successfully met to attain CC standards.

Samsung Knox’s CC certification emphasizes three core security features:

1. Tizen OS Monitoring: Samsung Knox actively detects potential hacking threats in real-time, identifying any unauthorized changes in critical areas of Tizen OS, the core operating system of Samsung TVs.
2. Phishing Website Blocking: Samsung Knox verifies web pages accessed by users and preemptively blocks phishing sites to safeguard user data and privacy.
3. Enhanced Personal Information Protection: Samsung Knox ensures seamless protection of users’ sensitive personal data through a secure connection with Samsung Knox Vault, a dedicated processor designed for security functions.
