Samsung is taking mobile security to the next level with the Galaxy S25 series, introducing post-quantum cryptography (PQC)—an advanced security measure designed to protect data from future quantum computing threats.

Why Quantum Computing Poses a Security Challenge

Quantum computing is set to revolutionize technology, solving complex problems at speeds far beyond traditional computers. From medical breakthroughs to supply chain optimization, its potential is vast. However, this immense power also presents a security risk—quantum computers could eventually break today’s encryption methods, putting sensitive data at risk.

Although full-scale quantum computing is still in development, cybercriminals may collect encrypted data today with the intent to decrypt it later using quantum technology. This makes proactive security measures essential.

Samsung’s PQC: A New Standard for Mobile Security

To counter this emerging threat, Samsung has integrated post-quantum cryptography (PQC) into its security ecosystem, following encryption standards set by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).

One of the key technologies used is ML-KEM (Module-Lattice-Based Key-Encapsulation Mechanism)—a lattice-based encryption algorithm that remains highly secure even against quantum-powered attacks. This ensures strong protection for sensitive data, such as online transactions and private communications, without compromising performance.

Stronger Cloud Security with PQC & Samsung Knox Matrix

Samsung is further enhancing Samsung Knox Matrix—its industry-leading security platform—by integrating Post-Quantum Enhanced Data Protection (EDP). This feature provides end-to-end encryption when backing up, restoring, or syncing data through Samsung Cloud.

With PQC-powered Knox Matrix, Samsung Cloud backups and synced data remain quantum-safe across multiple devices, including smartphones, TVs, and digital appliances. The Galaxy S25 series, running One UI 7, is the first to introduce this groundbreaking security upgrade.

Leading the Future of Mobile Security

As digital threats continue to evolve, Samsung is taking a proactive approach to future-proof user data. With the Galaxy S25 series leading the way in PQC-based cloud security, Samsung is setting a new industry standard—ensuring users stay protected in the quantum computing era.

By staying ahead of emerging risks, Samsung continues to redefine mobile security, providing users with a safer and more secure connected experience.
