A First Look at the Samsung Galaxy S25 FE: A Fan’s Edition Done Right

The Samsung Galaxy S25 FE has arrived, and it’s clear Samsung has listened to its fans, delivering a device that brings the most desirable features of the flagship S25 series to a more accessible price point. After some initial hands-on time, here is our first impression of a phone that might just be the best “affordable flagship” of the year.

Design & Display: A Premium Feel

The S25 FE looks and feels every bit a part of the S25 family. The design is sleek and modern, with a flat aluminum frame and a matte glass back that’s smooth to the touch and resists fingerprints. It’s also impressively thin and light, measuring just 7.4mm and weighing 190 grams—notably lighter than its predecessor, the S24 FE. The build quality feels excellent, and with an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+ on both the front and back, it promises durability to match its premium aesthetics.

The 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display is a standout feature. While it’s a Full HD+ panel, not the QHD+ of the more expensive S25 models, the 120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 1,900 nits make for a vibrant, smooth, and easy-to-read viewing experience, even in direct sunlight.

Performance & Battery: A Welcome Upgrade

Under the hood, Samsung has opted for the Exynos 2400 chipset, a significant upgrade from the Exynos 2400e found in the S24 FE. This means the S25 FE is powered by the same chip as the standard Galaxy S24 and S24+ models in many markets. This move ensures the phone handles everything from multitasking to demanding games with ease. For better thermal management, Samsung has also included a 10% larger vapor chamber.

Battery life looks promising. The S25 FE comes with an upgraded 4,900mAh battery, a nice bump from the 4,700mAh cell in the S24 FE. Even better, it now supports 45W wired fast charging, allowing you to go from a dead battery to 65% in just 30 minutes, a major improvement that brings it on par with the S25+.

Camera & AI: Flagship Features for Less

The camera setup is a familiar but capable one. It features a triple rear camera array with a 50MP main sensor with OIS, a 12MP ultrawide lens, and an 8MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. The biggest upgrade, however, is on the front, with a new 12MP selfie camera that should deliver sharper and more detailed photos.

Crucially, the S25 FE ships with the full suite of Galaxy AI features, including Circle to Search, Generative Edit, and Instant Slow-mo. This makes the powerful AI tools that debuted on the S25 series accessible to a wider audience, which is a major selling point for this “Fan Edition” device.

Verdict: The New Mid-Range Champion?

The Samsung Galaxy S25 FE is a compelling device that makes very few compromises. It delivers the premium design, a great display, and the most sought-after flagship features, including a full-fledged AI suite, without the flagship price tag. With a more powerful chipset, a larger battery with faster charging, and the promise of seven years of OS and security updates, it’s a calculated and excellent device that delivers immense value for money. For those looking for a near-flagship experience without the financial sting, the S25 FE is a must-consider.
