As Malaysia continues to face a growing burden of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as hypertension, diabetes, and heart disease, the need for preventive healthcare has never been more critical. According to the Ministry of Health, NCDs are the leading cause of death and disability in the country, accounting for nearly 72% of all premature deaths.

At the same time, Malaysians are becoming more proactive about their health. With Malaysia ranked among the world’s top ten countries for smartwatch usage, where 31.3% of the population owns a smartwatch, wearable technology is increasingly playing a vital role in helping individuals track vital signs, maintain active lifestyles, and detect potential health risks early.

Recognising this shift, Sunway Medical Centre Velocity (SMCV) has partnered with Samsung Malaysia Electronics to introduce the Galaxy Watch8 Health Screening Package. This exclusive screening programme is designed to complement the advanced health features of the newly launched Samsung Galaxy Watch8 series, offering a more connected and holistic approach to preventive care.

By integrating real-time health insights from the Galaxy Watch8 with SMCV’s clinical expertise, the collaboration enables individuals to better understand their health data and take meaningful action with professional medical guidance.

The Galaxy Watch8 Health Screening Package includes assessments aligned with the smartwatch’s health capabilities, such as vascular load monitoring, irregular heart rate alerts, blood pressure and ECG readings, bedtime guidance, and carotenoid measurement. Together, these features provide deeper insights into overall well-being and support informed health decisions.

Priced at RM1,600, the package includes:

  • Overview Assessment: Medical history review, physical examination, BMI, vision test, blood pressure screening, resting ECG, and Body Composition Analysis (BCA).
  • Blood Investigations: Full blood count, ESR, blood grouping, liver and kidney function profiles, lipid profile, thyroid function test, fasting blood sugar, HbA1c, and vitamin D.
  • Radiology & Diagnostic Assessments: Chest X-ray, ultrasound of the abdomen and pelvis, pulmonary function test, and stress test.
  • Lifestyle & Wellness Assessment: Sleep quality questionnaire.
  • Consultations: Medical officer review and dietitian consultation.

To mark the launch, SMCV and Samsung Malaysia are offering an exclusive campaign from 17 December 2025 to 28 February 2026, featuring a complimentary Galaxy Watch8 Health Screening Package and Samsung Galaxy Watch8 for early-bird purchasers, along with limited-time purchase-with-purchase (PWP) offers for both SMCV patients and Samsung customers.

Commenting on the collaboration, Ms Susan Cheow, CEO of SMCV, said the initiative makes preventive care more connected, personalised, and actionable by combining wearable data with clinical interpretation to support long-term health decisions.

Mr Matthew Ng, Head of Mobile eXperience Business at Samsung Malaysia Electronics, added that the Galaxy Watch8 series brings intuitive wellness insights directly to users’ wrists, and when paired with SMCV’s medical expertise, empowers Malaysians to take charge of their overall wellbeing through actionable data.

This collaboration reflects a shared vision to shift healthcare from reactive treatment to proactive wellness. By combining smart technology with clinical precision, SMCV and Samsung Malaysia aim to empower Malaysians to manage their health through continuous, preventive care.
