CARSOME Academy Marks 5 Years with More Than RM2 Million to Support Malaysia’s Automotive Talent

CARSOME Academy is marking its fifth anniversary with more than RM2 million in combined financial support, scholarships and development funding, as it expands efforts to prepare Malaysians for careers in the automotive industry.

The milestone brings together new and ongoing support from the Selangor State Government, Maybank Islamic Berhad and JETOUR Automobile Malaysia, giving more Malaysians opportunities to gain practical, industry-relevant skills and experience.

RM1.65 Million Programme to Expand TVET Opportunities

A major part of the initiative is the RM1.65 million Accelerate with TVET Programme, anchored by Maybank Islamic Berhad, with matching contributions from Bank Negara Malaysia, CARSOME Academy and Etiqa General Takaful.

The programme aims to improve access to technical and vocational education and training (TVET), particularly by connecting students with skills that are relevant to the automotive industry and potential employment opportunities.

Maybank Islamic CEO Mohamad Yasin Abdullah said TVET can play an important role in giving Malaysians practical skills while creating stronger pathways from education into employment.

For students considering a career in the automotive sector, this industry-linked training can offer experience beyond the classroom and a clearer understanding of the skills employers expect.

More Scholarships for Asnaf and B40 Students

Financial support is also being directed towards students who may face greater barriers to accessing education.

The Selangor State Government will provide more than RM350,000 in scholarships through IKTISASS and Yayasan MBI, supporting Asnaf and B40 students from Selangor.

CARSOME Group is contributing another RM150,000 towards scholarships, while additional funding and development commitments bring the Academy’s overall support to more than RM2 million.

This creates a wider pathway for students who may be interested in automotive careers but need financial assistance to pursue technical education and training.

Strengthening Selangor’s Automotive Talent Pipeline

The Selangor State Government is also continuing its collaboration with CARSOME Academy as part of its efforts to develop local talent and support the state’s automotive and economic ecosystem.

Speaking at CARSOME Academy’s fifth anniversary celebration, Selangor State Exco for Youth, Sports and Entrepreneurship, Yang Berhormat Tuan Mohd Najwan Bin Halimi, highlighted the Academy’s role as a homegrown organisation based in Petaling Jaya that is focused on developing young talent.

The continued partnership is expected to create more opportunities for young Malaysians to gain technical skills and explore career pathways within the automotive industry.

As the automotive sector continues to evolve, the demand is not only for traditional mechanical skills but also for workers who can adapt to new technologies, changing vehicle systems and modern automotive operations.

Through its fifth-anniversary initiatives, CARSOME Academy is bringing together funding, scholarships, technical training, industry partnerships and practical exposure to strengthen the connection between education and employment.

With more than RM2 million committed across scholarships, TVET and development programmes, the latest initiatives mark another step in CARSOME Academy’s efforts to build a stronger pipeline of automotive talent in Malaysia.
