Toshiba Malaysia Empowers Mothers Through Breastfeeding Awareness

Toshiba Lifestyle Malaysia is turning technology into meaningful support for mothers, combining breastfeeding awareness, expert knowledge, and practical home solutions in a new initiative designed to make the motherhood journey a little easier.

Motherhood comes with countless beautiful moments, but it also comes with challenges that are often not talked about enough. From breastfeeding and expressing milk to recovering after childbirth, mothers need more than encouragement — they need the right information, support and environment around them.

Recognising this, Toshiba Lifestyle Malaysia has launched “Empowering Every Mother’s Journey” in conjunction with World Breastfeeding Month 2026, bringing together experts, mothers and industry partners to shine a light on the realities of breastfeeding and the importance of supporting maternal and newborn well-being.

The initiative was held in Kuala Lumpur on 18 August 2026, with a forum featuring meaningful conversations around breastfeeding, motherhood and the role that families, communities and technology can play in creating a more supportive environment.

Breastfeeding Is a Journey That Requires Support

The event was officiated by YB Yeo Bee Yin, Chairperson of the Parliament Select Committee (PSC) for Women, Children and Community Development, who highlighted that breastfeeding extends beyond the mother herself.

“Breastfeeding is not only a mother’s personal journey but involves families, communities and healthcare professionals,” she said, emphasising the importance of collaboration between the public and private sectors in educating and supporting mothers and babies.

The forum brought together YB Yeo Bee Yin, Elizabeth Richard, Certified Lactation Consultant & Infant Care Expert, and Natasha Hudson, renowned actress, model, ceramist and wellness advocate.

Their discussion explored the realities mothers face during breastfeeding, while highlighting the importance of education, professional guidance, support systems and informed choices.

Elizabeth Richard noted that while breast milk provides important nutritional and protective benefits for babies, breastfeeding can also present physical, emotional and practical challenges for mothers.

The message was clear: mothers should not have to navigate the breastfeeding journey alone.

From Awareness to Practical Support

For Toshiba, supporting mothers goes beyond simply raising awareness.

As part of the initiative, Toshiba Lifestyle Malaysia is donating home appliances worth approximately RM60,000 to three confinement and postnatal centres:

  • The Nesting Place Confinement Centre
  • Kimporo Postnatal Rejuvenation Centre
  • LYC Mother & Child Centre

The donation includes refrigerators, washing machines, dryers and dishwashers, providing practical support for centres caring for mothers and newborns during the important postpartum recovery period.

The refrigerators will also help support the safe and hygienic storage of expressed breast milk, while the other appliances are intended to improve the overall care environment and provide greater convenience for mothers and newborns.

Toshiba Receives Parenthood Records Recognition

The contribution also earned Toshiba Lifestyle Malaysia a Parenthood Records title for “Most Home Appliances Donated to Confinement Centres.”

This recognition adds another meaningful milestone to Toshiba’s efforts to support mothers and babies, showing how everyday home technology can play a role in creating a more comfortable and nurturing environment.

Teresa Chin, Founder of Parenthood and facilitator of the forum, said the initiative brought together experts, mothers and industry partners to address a topic of national interest while supporting maternal and newborn well-being.

Natasha Hudson also shared an important reminder that every mother’s journey is different, shaped by her own challenges and experiences.

Bringing the 5-Senses of a Nurturing Home to Life

The initiative also introduced visitors to the 5-Senses Toshiba Lifestyle Experience Zone, an immersive space inspired by motherhood, breastfeeding and the comfort of home.

Rather than focusing solely on appliances, the experience demonstrated how home solutions can support different aspects of family life — from creating a more comfortable and hygienic environment to making everyday routines easier for mothers, babies and families.

This reflects Toshiba’s broader approach to home technology: appliances should not simply perform a function, but should contribute to a home environment where families can feel more comfortable, confident and cared for.

Technology With a Purpose

The “Empowering Every Mother’s Journey” initiative demonstrates how technology can take on a more meaningful role in everyday life.

From keeping expressed breast milk safely stored to helping reduce household chores, the right home appliances can provide practical support during a period when mothers need time, comfort and care the most.

For Toshiba Lifestyle Malaysia, the initiative is ultimately about putting people at the heart of technology.

As mothers continue to navigate one of life’s biggest journeys, meaningful support can come in many forms — from professional advice and community encouragement to the simple convenience of having the right appliances at home.

And sometimes, making a mother’s journey easier begins with something as simple as creating a home that works harder for her.
