Samsung to Revolutionize Paris 2024 Olympic Broadcast with Galaxy S24 Ultra
June 20, 2024Samsung Electronics, a Worldwide Olympic and Paralympic Partner, has announced a groundbreaking initiative with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and Olympic Broadcasting Services (OBS) for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Samsung’s Galaxy S24 Ultra smartphones will capture and share unique footage of the Opening Ceremony on the Seine River and the sailing competitions.
Innovative Broadcast Technology
Samsung, the Official Smartphone and Computing Equipment partner, will use its advanced mobile technology and 5G connectivity to provide a close-up view of the Games. This initiative aims to enhance the viewer experience and support Paris 2024’s goal of being the most accessible Games ever.
Opening Ceremony on the Seine River
For the first time, the Opening Ceremony will take place outside a stadium, featuring 10,500 athletes on boats traveling down the Seine River. Samsung will install over 200 Galaxy S24 Ultra smartphones on the 85 athlete vessels, capturing high-quality HDR footage streamed via a private 5G network by Orange, the official mobile network provider.
Sailing Competitions in Marseille
Samsung will also equip competition boats in Marseille with the Galaxy S24 Ultra to bring fans closer to the action. This required extensive research and testing to ensure video quality and connectivity in various weather conditions.
Samsung’s Legacy and Contribution
This initiative continues Samsung’s long-standing commitment to innovation at the Olympic Games. Past contributions include the ‘Call Home’ program in 1998 and the Wireless Olympic Works (WOW) app introduced in 2004. Samsung has provided over 120,000 mobile products to athletes and staff since 1998.
Future Innovations
Samsung will reveal more details about its technological contributions to the Paris 2024 Games in the coming weeks, further enhancing the connection between fans and athletes.
