One UI 6.1 Update Rolling Out To Galaxy Devices
March 6, 2024Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. has announced a new One UI 6.1 update to make Galaxy AI features available on more Galaxy devices, continuing the push for widespread access to mobile AI. This update will be rolled out to the Galaxy S23 series, S23 FE, Z Fold5, Z Flip5, and Tab S9 series, starting at the end of March. Aligned with the recently launched Galaxy S24 series, the update enhances users’ mobile AI experience by combining on-device and cloud-based AI in a hybrid approach.
TM Roh, President and Head of Mobile eXperience Business at Samsung Electronics, highlighted the goal of not only pioneering a new era of mobile AI but also empowering users by making AI more accessible. The company aims to bring the Galaxy AI experience to over 100 million users within 2024, continually innovating ways to harness the possibilities of mobile AI.
Communication Across Borders: More Galaxy users can now benefit from communication-enhancing Galaxy AI features available on AI-supported models. These features include adjusting message tones and translating messages in 13 languages using Chat Assist. Live Translate provides voice and text translations for phone calls, while Interpreter enables spontaneous conversations with locals by generating text translations for live conversations.
Enhanced Productivity: The broader integration of Galaxy AI across the Galaxy ecosystem ensures a seamless user experience in daily tasks on AI-supported models, enhancing efficiency. Circle to Search with Google improves search functions with an intuitive circle-motioned gesture. Note Assist allows users to create formats, generate summaries, and translate notes. Browsing Assist generates comprehensive summaries of news articles, helping users stay informed faster. Transcript Assist easily transcribes meeting recordings and generates summaries and translations.
Unleashing Creativity: Samsung doubles down on unlocking creative potential with Galaxy AI, offering tools that encourage creative freedom after taking a photo. Generative Edit allows resizing, repositioning, or realigning objects in photos. Edit Suggestion streamlines photo polishing, and Instant Slow-mo generates additional frames for slow-motion videos. Customizing Galaxy devices is made easier with AI-generated wallpapers, bringing users’ creativity to life.
