Emirates Enters Winter Season with Strong Demand, More Aircraft and Expanded Global Connectivity
October 2, 2026Emirates is heading into the winter travel season with strong booking momentum after carrying more than 8.6 million passengers between July and August, as demand continues to build across key markets worldwide.
The airline is currently operating at around 93% of its pre-disruption capacity, with bookings for the winter season, which begins in late October, continuing to track positively.
While travellers are increasingly making their travel decisions closer to departure, Emirates says demand is currently ahead of last year in several markets, including South Africa, Brazil, India, Portugal, Egypt, Ghana, Colombia, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan.
Demand from the UAE also remains strong, while the airline continues to see growing interest in its premium travel offerings.
Strong Summer Demand Across Emirates’ Network
During the July and August summer period, Emirates recorded seat load factors of more than 75% across services to and from West Asia, Europe, the Middle East, the Americas and Africa.
Some of the strongest performances came from routes serving Indonesia, Côte d’Ivoire and the UK.
Premium Economy also continued to gain momentum, with the Americas recording the strongest growth in demand for the cabin.
Dubai remained a popular destination, with more than 500,000 customers arriving on Emirates flights during late August alone, a 7% increase from the same period last year.
The arrivals included UAE residents returning ahead of the new school year, people relocating to Dubai for work, new residents, and travellers visiting the city for a late-summer getaway.
More Flexibility for Travellers
During the summer, Emirates also expanded the flexibility offered to customers.
The airline introduced one free date change across its network, alongside unlimited free date changes for journeys to Dubai.
It also reduced refund fees on Dubai journeys and introduced its Comprehensive Travel Cover, which includes medical protection against conflict and airspace disruption.
The policy can also provide airline-managed accommodation, ground support and rebooking when required.
For travellers, these measures are aimed at providing greater flexibility when plans change or unexpected disruptions affect a journey.
Emirates Accelerates Fleet and Cabin Upgrades

Emirates is also continuing to invest in its fleet.
Since January 2026, the airline has received 18 aircraft, consisting of 11 new Airbus A350s and seven Boeing 777 freighters.
Another six A350s are scheduled to arrive before the end of December.
At the same time, the airline’s retrofit programme continues to upgrade existing aircraft.
So far, 104 aircraft have completed the retrofit programme, including 53 Boeing 777s and 51 A380s.
This has brought the total number of Emirates aircraft featuring Premium Economy and its latest cabin products to 137, with that figure expected to increase to 155 aircraft by the end of December.
Premium Economy Expands to More Destinations
Emirates’ Premium Economy cabin is now available on services to 90 destinations, with another six destinations scheduled to receive the product before the end of the year.
These include Paris, Delhi and Stockholm, among others.
The airline has also continued introducing new cabin features across its fleet.
This year, Emirates launched its U-Dream headrests in A350 Economy Class, its new Premium Economy seat featuring privacy dividers and its next-generation signature lounges.
New lounge facilities have already opened in Munich, Frankfurt and Manchester.
Starlink Installation Continues
Connectivity is also becoming a bigger part of the Emirates onboard experience.
Close to 50 Emirates aircraft are now equipped with Starlink, with more installations taking place alongside the airline’s wider retrofit programme.
The rollout is intended to provide more passengers with access to high-speed inflight internet during their journeys.
More A350s and Frequencies for Winter
As the winter travel season approaches, Emirates will continue expanding its network through new destinations, additional frequencies and the deployment of newer aircraft.
Helsinki joined the Emirates network on 1 October, operating with the Airbus A350.
The A350 currently serves 30 destinations from Dubai, with that number expected to increase to 36 by the end of the year.
Emirates is also increasing capacity on several routes:
- Accra – second daily service
- Tokyo Narita – second daily service
- Ho Chi Minh City – second daily service
- Hanoi – second daily service
- Delhi – one daily service upgraded to the A380
The A350 will also be deployed to Larnaca, Malta, Nairobi and Hamburg from late October, followed by Mauritius in November.
Retrofitted Boeing 777 aircraft will be introduced to Stockholm in October and Frankfurt in November, bringing Emirates’ latest onboard products to more destinations.
Emirates’ Wider Network Reaches 1,750 Cities
Beyond its own network, Emirates continues to rely on partnerships to expand the destinations available to its customers.
The airline currently has 168 codeshare, interline and intermodal partnerships, giving customers access to an additional 1,750 cities.
On an average day, more than 13,000 Emirates customers connect to their final destinations using services operated by partner airlines.
Emirates and flydubai Continue to Strengthen Dubai Connections
The partnership between Emirates and flydubai remains a major part of the Dubai hub experience.
Together, the two airlines now provide access to more than 214 unique destinations across more than 100 countries, creating more than 4,600 connection opportunities through Dubai.
Emirates customers can access more than 100 flydubai destinations, while flydubai passengers can connect to more than 140 Emirates destinations.
Among the popular flydubai destinations for Emirates customers are Kathmandu, Zanzibar, Krabi and Belgrade.
Since the partnership began in 2017, Emirates and flydubai have carried more than 28 million passengers across their integrated network.
flydubai has also continued expanding its own network in 2026, adding Chittagong in Bangladesh in April, Benghazi in Libya in June, Aleppo in Syria and Bangkok Don Mueang in July, followed by Pokhara in Nepal in September.
A Bigger Winter Travel Network Ahead
With more aircraft joining the fleet, more retrofitted cabins entering service, Premium Economy reaching additional destinations and connectivity continuing to expand, Emirates is entering the winter season with a broader travel proposition for passengers.
For travellers, that means more choices across destinations, aircraft and cabin experiences — while Emirates continues to build its Dubai hub into a major global connection point.
