Fashion and automotive design come together once again as Mercedes-Benz FashionWeek Kuala Lumpur (MBFWKL) returns to The Exchange TRX from 21 to 23 August 2026.

Now in its eighth edition, MBFWKL is moving beyond the traditional fashion week format with this year’s theme, “Welcome to Couture. Welcome to Beyond.”

The three-day event brings together fashion, artistry, automotive design and creative expression, while showcasing how modern luxury continues to evolve.

At the heart of this year’s celebration is the Malaysian appearance of the new Mercedes-Maybach SL 680 Monogram Series, a roadster that combines open-top driving with the distinctive design language and craftsmanship associated with Mercedes-Maybach.

Where Fashion Meets Automotive Design

Mercedes-Benz is celebrating 140 Years of Innovation, making this year’s MBFWKL an opportunity to reflect on the brand’s long history while looking towards its next chapter.

The connection between fashion and automotive design is clear. Both industries place strong emphasis on individuality, craftsmanship, materials, proportions and attention to detail.

MBFWKL brings these worlds together through a runway that goes beyond clothing, creating an environment where automotive heritage and contemporary fashion can influence and inspire each other.

Martin Schulz, CEO & President of Mercedes-Benz Cars Malaysia and Head of Region, Mercedes-Benz Cars Southeast Asia, described the event as a natural platform for the brand to celebrate its continued focus on innovation and craftsmanship.

The theme reflects Mercedes-Benz’s approach to luxury as something that continues to evolve rather than remain fixed in the past.

Meet the Mercedes-Maybach SL 680 Monogram Series

One of the biggest highlights of MBFWKL 2026 is undoubtedly the Mercedes-Maybach SL 680 Monogram Series.

Making its anticipated appearance in Malaysia, the roadster brings the open-air character of the SL together with the unmistakable design identity of Mercedes-Maybach.

The model features distinctive proportions, an exclusive Monogram pattern and a luxurious interior, with attention to detail playing a central role in its overall design.

Its presence at MBFWKL is particularly fitting given the similarities between haute couture and automotive craftsmanship. Both are built around meticulous design, individuality and the pursuit of exclusivity.

Nadia Trimmel, Chief Operating Officer of Mercedes-Benz Cars Malaysia, highlighted the vehicle’s combination of exclusive design, open-top character and attention to detail as an expression of the Maybach philosophy.

Nineteen Designers Take Over the Runway

The automotive showcase will be joined by 19 established and emerging designers, each bringing their own interpretation of modern luxury to the MBFWKL runway.

Making their MBFWKL debut are JOYCE COUTURE, Ethereal by Amni S, ROMANCE 1314, D I Studios and ARUNSAYFULL, introducing new creative perspectives to the event.

The international presence also continues with Furry Tales by Leia from Singapore, a label combining fashion, art and lifestyle with animal-inspired designs while highlighting animal rescue, adoption and wildlife conservation.

From Indonesia, BLANC STUDIO brings a contemporary unisex aesthetic influenced by minimalism, self-expression and streetwear.

They join a strong line-up of designers including Justin Yap, Dickson Lim, Coterie by Celest Thoi, EL by Ellie Lim, byThian, P-23, SEIBU, TEMMA PRASETIO and DIKSON MAH.

Returning designers include UnitedWood, SETH&LUNA MALAYA and Joe Chia, adding further depth to a showcase that reflects the growing diversity of Malaysia’s fashion industry.

MBFWKL 2026 also brings together a range of lifestyle and experiential partners, including Kimarie Hairdressing, Kimpton Naluria KL, Luen Heng, M·A·C Cosmetics, SEIBU, Signature Total Home & Living Solutions and The Exchange TRX.

The event also marks the conclusion of Mercedes-Benz’s week-long roadshow, which runs from 17 to 23 August, allowing members of the public to explore the brand’s heritage, vehicles and latest innovations.

A key part of the roadshow is Agility+ by Mercedes-Benz, a mobility solution combining personalised financing options, Guaranteed Future Value and a selection of lifestyle experiences and value-added products.
