MG ZS Hybrid+ Makes Malaysian Debut at KLIMS 2026

SAIC Motor Malaysia has unveiled the local specification of the all-new MG ZS Hybrid+ at KLIMS 2026, introducing the latest generation of MG’s compact SUV to the Malaysian market. The lineup will consist of two variants — the MG ZS LUX Turbo and MG ZS LUX Hybrid+ — with the turbocharged version scheduled for a later launch.

The unveiling reflects MG’s strategy of offering a broader range of powertrain options to cater to different customer needs while strengthening its position in Malaysia’s competitive SUV segment.

Speaking at the event, SAIC Motor Malaysia Managing Director Emory Qi said every MG model introduced into Malaysia is carefully selected to meet the evolving needs of Malaysian consumers.

Also attending KLIMS 2026 was Jozef Kabaň, who shared insights into MG’s evolving global design language and future mobility vision.

The new MG ZS features a sporty and contemporary design highlighted by Connected Hunter Eyes headlights, a bold front fascia, black grille accents, aerodynamic body sculpting, LED rear taillights, a rear spoiler, and stylish 18-inch alloy wheels.

Measuring 4,430mm long and 1,818mm wide, the MG ZS is positioned as the largest B-segment SUV in its class. The spacious cabin incorporates premium materials, enhanced passenger room, and practical storage solutions throughout the interior.

Boot space stands at 443 litres and can be expanded to 1,457 litres with the rear seats folded, making it one of the most spacious offerings in the segment.

The dashboard is dominated by a 12.3-inch floating infotainment display alongside a fully digital instrument cluster, providing drivers with essential information and connectivity features.

The MG ZS Hybrid+ combines a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine with a 100kW electric motor and a 1.83kWh NCM battery pack.

Together, the hybrid system produces a combined output of 158kW and 465Nm of torque, paired with a sophisticated three-speed hybrid transmission.

MG claims the SUV can accelerate from 0-100km/h in just 8.7 seconds, making it the fastest hybrid SUV in the B-segment. It also offers an estimated driving range of up to 870km from its 41-litre fuel tank, delivering the convenience of a self-charging hybrid system without requiring external charging.

The MG ZS comes equipped with MG PILOT Driver Safety Technology, incorporating a suite of ADAS 2.5 safety and driver assistance features designed to improve safety and driving confidence.

Owners will also benefit from MG iSMART connectivity, allowing remote access and control of various vehicle functions through a smartphone app, including keyless entry functions.

The SUV will be available in Red, Silver, Black and White exterior colours paired with an all-black interior. Final specifications and pricing will be announced during the official launch.

Customers who place an early booking with an RM99 reservation fee during the promotional period will receive:

KLIMS 2026 also marks the Malaysian introduction of IM, SAIC Motor’s premium luxury-focused electric vehicle brand.

Making its first local appearance is the IM6, a premium all-electric D-segment SUV that showcases SAIC’s future direction in intelligent mobility and premium EV technology.

The IM6 measures 4,904mm in length and 1,988mm in width, offering a spacious and luxurious cabin complete with a panoramic glass roof, ultra-soft leather-style seats, and advanced smart features.

Performance figures are equally impressive, with:

• 572kW power output
• 802Nm torque

The IM6 highlights SAIC Motor Malaysia’s ambitions beyond conventional and hybrid vehicles as it expands into the premium electric vehicle segment.
